Flying Privately with Pets: A Practical Guide for Gulf Travellers

A smoother journey with your pet starts before the flight. Learn what to confirm about operator approval, entry documents, cabin arrangements and your stay.

Start with Approval, Not Aircraft Selection

Private charter can offer greater flexibility when travelling with a pet, but acceptance is never automatic. The licensed operator must approve the animal and its cabin arrangements for the specific flight. Aircraft restrictions, cleaning conditions and any additional charges should be confirmed before you commit.

Share your pet’s species, breed, weight and carrier dimensions at the first enquiry, along with the number of animals travelling. Mention any relevant health or behavioural concerns. EasyTrip arranges charter flights through licensed operators; providing these details early helps it seek suitable options rather than assume every aircraft can accommodate your companion.

Treat Pet Documents as a Separate Travel File

Your own visa and passport do not cover your pet. Depending on the route, authorities may require a microchip, vaccination records, an official health certificate, an import permit or additional testing. Some requirements involve waiting periods, so a last-minute aircraft booking does not necessarily make last-minute pet travel possible. Breed and species restrictions may also apply.

Check the destination’s official veterinary or animal-import authority, the departure requirements and any transit rules relevant to your routing. Confirm which documents must be original or officially endorsed, and check their validity against the planned arrival. Prepare for the return journey too: requirements for re-entry into your Gulf home country may differ from those of your holiday destination.

Confirm the Arrival Airport and Ground Process

An airport that accepts private jets may not be authorised or equipped to process your pet’s entry. Before settling on an airport, have the operator or handling team confirm whether the required animal-clearance service is available, whether an appointment is necessary and where inspections take place. A private terminal does not remove veterinary or customs obligations.

For travel from the Gulf, also ask how outdoor exposure will be limited between the terminal, aircraft and vehicle, particularly in hot weather. Pre-arrange a pet-accepting transfer with enough space for the approved carrier. Avoid a tightly timed onward connection until the expected clearance process is understood.

Plan Cabin Comfort with Your Veterinarian

Ask your veterinarian whether your pet is fit to fly, especially if it is short-nosed, elderly, very young or managing a medical condition. Discuss feeding, hydration, anxiety and any medication for the complete door-to-door journey. Do not give sedatives simply to make travel easier without veterinary advice and confirmation that the operator’s requirements can be met.

Confirm the approved carrier or restraint, where your pet will remain during each phase of flight, and what access you will have to it. Do not assume unrestricted movement around the cabin. Familiar bedding, absorbent liners and accessible cleaning supplies can help; allow time beforehand for your pet to become comfortable with its carrier.

Extend the Plan Beyond Landing

A pet-friendly hotel may still impose limits on size, number or breed, restrict access to restaurants and beaches, or prohibit leaving animals alone in rooms. Obtain written confirmation for your specific booking. For a villa, yacht or resort stay, check the property and transfer arrangements separately rather than relying on a general pet-friendly label.

Keep documents, permitted food, essential medication and a lead readily accessible, and identify a veterinary clinic near your accommodation. Agree on a fallback plan if the flight or clearance is delayed. The most comfortable private journey is one in which the flight, arrival and stay have all been planned around your pet’s actual needs.
